Floodlights on at Bitola's "Goce Delchev" primary school: two new sports courts for 14.28 million denars

In central Bitola, the "Goce Delchev" primary school has got two new multi-purpose sports courts - one for futsal and handball, the other for basketball. The courts are fenced, fitted with sports equipment and street furniture, and since the evening of October 2 they also have lighting.

The project is worth 14,280,422 denars, around 232,000 euros. The money comes from the second government call through the Ministry of Education and Science, and the municipality says the goal is "modern conditions for sport and recreation" in education.

New courts in a schoolyard are good news for the kids. But the real test isn't the evening the floodlights came on. The test is what the courts look like after three winters, and whether they will stay open to children after classes are over.
