Garou, the Canadian singer who sang Quasimodo in the original staging of the musical "Notre-Dame de Paris", comes to Hall 1 of the NDK in Sofia on 24 September 2026. The show is billed as The Best of and starts at 19:00.
Pierre Garand, as he was born, arrived in 1972 and was already playing piano and guitar in primary school. Before the stardom he did everything unsuccessful musicians do - shop assistant in a clothing store, farm picker, club gigs around Montreal and songs on street corners. In the mid-nineties he fronted his own band, The Untouchables.
The break came in 1997, when Luc Plamondon picked him for Quasimodo in the musical he wrote with composer Richard Cocciante. "Notre-Dame de Paris" premiered in Paris in 1998 and turned Garou into a major star in France. On New Year's Eve 1999 he appeared on stage with Celine Dion in Montreal, and then, with the help of her manager and husband Rene Angelil, signed a record deal.
His debut album "Seul" came out at the end of 2000 and became the best-selling French album of 2001 - two million copies sold in Europe and triple platinum in Canada. The duet with Dion, "Sous le Vent", became an international hit, and Garou took four Adisq awards. Tickets for the Sofia concert run from 70 to 80 euros through bilet.bg.
