Ivo Dimchev returns to Varna on 1 October 2026. The concert with his band is at The Brick Port, and it comes straight after a run of summer shows across Bulgaria and his appearance at the Sziget Festival in Budapest.

Dimchev was born in 1976 and belongs to that set of Bulgarian artists whose international career is busier than the one at home. His work moves freely between music, theatre, performance, choreography and visual art. He enrolled at the National Academy for Theatre and Film Arts but walked away because he found the teaching method restrictive, and took his master's at DASarts in Amsterdam instead. The dance and theatre awards he has picked up over the years come from European and American stages, not Bulgarian ones.

The music is not a side project for him. He has over a hundred original songs in his own Songbook, and during the pandemic he performed more than four hundred private concerts in people's homes - in Bulgaria, Istanbul, New York and Los Angeles. That format demands a very different kind of nerve than a stage with floodlights, and it works for him because the voice and the presence are enough without production built around them.

Shortly after Varna, Dimchev will also appear in the official showcase programme of WOMEX 2026 in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. The Brick Port is a space with limited capacity, which means the Varna date is one of those that fills up fast. Tickets go through festteam.bg.
