Kandžija i Gole Žene, one of the most original Croatian hip-hop acts, perform on July 31 in Martinska near Šibenik. For fans of alternative rap this is a concert by a band known for its raw energy and a live, band-driven approach to hip-hop.
Kandžija, from Zagreb, is regarded as one of the best freestylers in the Balkans, and he performs either with a DJ or with his own band Gole Žene - a lineup that, despite the name ("Naked Women"), is made up of six men and is considered by many the best Croatian hip-hop band. By building elements of rock, funk and electronica into their sound, they bring an original perspective to the genre.
What defines them is a blend of raw intensity, varied instrumentation and socially engaged themes. Instead of standard rap over a backing track, Kandžija i Gole Žene play live with a full band, which turns their concerts into an energetic rock-hip-hop performance with recognisable Croatian humour and edge.
Tickets are available via ulaznice.hr. The show is in Martinska near Šibenik, in the evening hours.
