Kraftwerk, the German pioneers of electronic music and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees, will play Luka Beograd on July 19. The concert lands just six days before their show at ARM Stadium in Skopje on July 25 - meaning the region gets two chances to see the band that essentially invented electronic pop as a genre. How often does the Balkans get back-to-back stops from a band whose every gesture has been copied for half a century?

Founded in Düsseldorf in 1970 by Ralf Hütter and Florian Schneider, Kraftwerk released a run of albums that literally defined the sound of modern electronic music. Autobahn (1974) was the breakthrough, followed by Trans-Europe Express (1977), The Man-Machine (1978) and Computer World (1981). The Model unexpectedly hit number one in the UK in 1982, more than three years after its original release. In 2017 their album 3-D: The Catalogue won the Grammy for Best Dance/Electronic Album, and in October 2021 they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

The Luka Beograd show will be a classic Kraftwerk event - 3D visuals and the audiovisual spectacle the band is globally known for. The current line-up is led by Hütter as the sole original member, alongside Fritz Hilpert, Henning Schmitz and Falk Grießhagen. Expect a compositionally precise set drawing from the four legendary albums.

Tickets start at 4,900 dinars (around 2,580 Macedonian denars) and are available via tickets.rs. The concert starts at 20:00 at Luka Beograd. For viewers from Macedonia weighing the trip, remember the band lands in Skopje six days later.
