Frchkoski Calls Lefkov to a Drug Test, Lefkov Sends Frchkoski to the Prosecutor: a Political Debate Conducted at the Level of a Lab Result Nobody Has Produced

VMRO-DPMNE MP Mile Lefkov has filed a criminal complaint with the Prosecutor's Office for Organised Crime and Corruption against Jon Frchkoski, a member of SDSM's executive board, and against unnamed persons. The complaint was filed electronically and will also reach the registry. With it Lefkov is asking the institutions to establish what lies behind the publicly posted photographs and behind Frchkoski's line "Did you try it? They photographed you", and to examine whether there are grounds under articles 215 and 216 of the Criminal Code, as well as article 364 - failure to report a crime.

How did we get here? More than a week ago Frchkoski publicly invited Lefkov to go to a laboratory together and be tested for narcotics. After eight days without a reply, he repeated it: "Mile, when are we going? Do you think a week or two will hide anything?" Along the way he accused the MP and his party of being connected to people who traffic drugs.

Lefkov did not go to a laboratory. He went to the prosecutor. "I have no weakness for alcohol or for narcotics. I have never used narcotic substances and that is a fact," he says, adding: "If you think I have committed a crime, go ahead, report me." Then the counter-punch: "If you are publicly admitting you used drugs, report the people you got them from!" And a claim that the people around Venko Filipche "will carry on using narcotics in their offices" - with not a single piece of evidence attached to that sentence.

Here is what the whole story is missing: a lab result. One man demands a test, the other demands a prosecutor, and neither has produced a document. Frchkoski announced he will be tested on his own and publish the results - we shall see. Meanwhile the organised crime and corruption prosecution, the office that exists precisely for that, receives a case file made of Facebook posts and one ambiguous sentence. Is that its job, or is the prosecution becoming the stage where politicians play the closing acts of their own reality shows?

"From today, for me this is not a Facebook topic. From today, this is a topic for the institutions," Lefkov declared. So the institutions get one more file from Facebook. How many such files does the prosecution have on its desk - and how many of them ended with anything more than a headline?
