Belgrade police, in cooperation with the First Basic Public Prosecutor's Office, arrested a Macedonian citizen A.K. (42) on suspicion of fraud. The suspect posed as a surgeon and, together with unknown accomplices, deceived victims by claiming he could perform emergency surgery on an injured family member - who had allegedly been in a traffic accident.

Police arrested him immediately after a money transfer. On him they found 16,650 euros and 150,000 dinars. Not a bad daily haul for a fake doctor.

According to the investigation, the suspect and his unknown associates committed multiple similar frauds across Belgrade from November of last year to the present, collecting over 100,000 euros. The scheme is always the same: a call for emergency surgery, panic, money.

The suspect was held for 48 hours before being brought before the prosecutor. Fake surgeon, real criminal - and how many like him go unnoticed?
