Moonspell With a Symphony Orchestra at the Ancient Theatre in Plovdiv on August 2 - the Portuguese Gothic Metal Stars With Classical Orchestration

Munspel vo Plovdiv na 2 avgust

Moonspell, one of the most recognisable gothic and experimental metal bands and the only Portuguese metal stars with global reach, come to the Ancient Theatre in Plovdiv on August 2, 2026. The concert is a special event with a symphony orchestra and choir, as part of their Wolfheart 30th Anniversary tour.

The band was formed in Lisbon in 1989 and became one of the defining voices in gothic and black metal in the nineties. The 1995 debut album Wolfheart is considered a classic of the genre, with its blend of black metal, gothic sound and Portuguese folk themes. With 13 studio albums, frontman Fernando Ribeiro (vocals) and long-time members Ricardo Amorim, Pedro Paixao and Miguel Gaspar have kept the same line-up for almost three decades.

For the symphony-oriented Plovdiv show, the band will be backed by a full orchestra and choir, with specially arranged versions of the classics - Alma Mater, Vampiria, Opium, Wolfheart - alongside material from the latest album. The Ancient Theatre of Philippopolis, with a capacity of 3,500 and excellent acoustics, is an ideal setting for what Moonspell do - a medieval metal spectacle with full production.

Tickets are available through eventim.bg at 90 leva. The concert starts at 20:00 on Sunday, August 2, 2026. For Macedonian fans of gothic metal, this is one of the key dates in the neighbourhood - the orchestral format is a special one.
