One of the most unusual voices in American gothic-country is coming to Belgrade. Munly and the Lupercalians perform on November 24 at KC Grad - a night for anyone looking for something on the far side of the familiar, somewhere between country, goth and theatre.

Behind the project is Jay Munly from Denver, one of the architects of the so-called Denver sound - music that blends country, goth, folk and gospel. Munly and the Lupercalians is his second side project, started around 2006, featuring nearly all the members of his main band, Slim Cessna's Auto Club. Genre-wise it is gothic-country, progressive folk and americana - sometimes joyful, sometimes sinister.

What makes the show special is its theatricality. On stage every member except Munly wears a costume that marks them as a resident of the fictional town of Lupercalia, and the whole project is conceived as a multi-volume saga about that town and its colourful inhabitants. This is not an ordinary rock concert but musical theatre, the kind rarely seen in the region.

The show at KC Grad starts at 9 pm, and tickets are available through tickets.rs. For an audience that wants something completely different from the standard concert fare, this is one of the more intriguing addresses this autumn.
