After 8 September, Independence Day, there are only four non-working days left before the end of 2026. Three of them fall in a way that creates long weekends.
These are the dates:
8 September (Tuesday) - Independence Day. With one day off on the Monday, you get four consecutive days, from Saturday 5 September to Tuesday 8 September.
12 October (Monday) - Day of the People's Uprising. Since 11 October falls on a Sunday, the holiday is marked on the Monday and brings a long weekend.
23 October (Friday) - Day of the Macedonian Revolutionary Struggle. Another long weekend, this time starting on the Friday.
8 December (Tuesday) - St. Clement of Ohrid.
For Catholic citizens, 1 November (Sunday), All Saints' Day, and 25 December (Friday), Christmas, are also non-working days.
October is the month worth watching
Of all four remaining dates, October carries two long weekends within a span of eleven days. For anyone planning a short trip or a break, that is the best window left this year.
After 23 October there is a six-week gap until 8 December. So if you are planning anything, plan it now.
