Ostava, one of the key names of Bulgarian britpop, play at Malkata Tekila in Sofia on October 2, 2026. The concert is billed as a Live and Visual Experience, starting at 7pm.
The group came together in 1991 in Gabrovo as a student band - Georgi Georgiev on guitar and vocals, Boyan Petkov on bass and Dragomir Dimitrov on drums. The first hit, "Polya ot slanchogledi" ("Fields of Sunflowers"), arrived in 1994, and Svilen Noev joined them in 1995. The debut album "Ping-pong" only came out in 2000, which in their case was never a problem - the songs were already circulating.
The breakthrough to a wide audience came with the album "Mono" in December 2004. It produced the single "Shokolad", which held the number one spot on Bulgaria's Top 100 chart for six weeks - a rarity for a rock song in the local language. Between 2000 and 2005 the band was repeatedly nominated as group of the year by BG Radio and the MM television channel.
After "Mono" came "Rock & roll song designers?" in 2008, "Okean" in 2015, the live release "The Best of Ostava" in 2016 and "Kislorod" in 2022. Thirty-five years of work, and the audience still fills clubs. Malkata Tekila is a club-sized room, and tickets run from 15 to 20 euros through bilet.bg.
