The Crown play Zappa Baza in Belgrade on September 18. The Swedish melodic death metal outfit with thirty-five years of service comes to the Serbian capital, and tickets are 2,500 dinars through tickets.rs. The start is at 7 pm.

The band formed in 1990 in Trollhättan around singer Johan Lindstrand and is one of the most recognisable names of the Swedish death metal school. They worked actively until 2004, then paused, and returned in 2009. That is also the story of the whole generation of Swedish bands that defined the melodic branch of the genre and through the nineties imposed it as a European standard.

The discography starts with Burning from 1995 and Eternal Death from 1997, two records still taken as textbook examples today. Then comes Deathrace King in 2000, Crowned in Terror in 2002 where Tomas Lindberg takes over vocals, Possessed 13 in 2003 and Crowned Unholy in 2004. Lindstrand returned to the microphone only with Death Is Not Dead in January 2015, after more than a decade.

The latest album Crown of Thorns came out through Metal Blade Records, which means the Belgrade show will not be only a run through the archive. Zappa Baza is a club space, and for death metal that is the natural habitat: tight, loud and with no distance between the stage and the crowd.
