Ukrainian Drone Hits Luxury Skyscraper in Moscow - 7 Kilometres from the Kremlin

A Ukrainian drone has struck the Mosfilm Tower - a luxury residential complex in western Moscow, 7 kilometres from the Kremlin and 3 kilometres from Russia's Ministry of Defence building. The strike happened overnight, around 1 a.m. Moscow mayor Sergei Sobyanin confirmed material damage to the upper floors - but no casualties.

Photographs show damage to the upper floors and debris on the street below. Russian air defence said it had shot down two more drones heading toward Moscow. The Ukrainian military made no official comment.

The strike matters for several reasons. Mosfilm Tower sits in the elite western part of Moscow - not a typical military target, but a symbolic spot in the heart of the Russian capital. Second, the attack came just days before May 9 - Victory Day, the major national holiday when Putin traditionally holds a military parade on Red Square.

Over three years of conflict, Ukraine has put its drones - more than once - deep inside the Russian capital. The message is consistent: there is no safe zone. Not even for those living in luxury towers 7 kilometres from the Kremlin.
