Vasko Vasilev, the Bulgarian violin virtuoso and one of the most recognisable figures in contemporary classical music from Bulgaria, comes to Sofia on December 2 and 3, 2026. Two consecutive concerts in Hall 1 of NDK with a special fusion programme with Spanish guitar.
Vasilev (born 1970) rose to fame in the late eighties and has been concertmaster of the Royal Opera House in London since 1995. A long-time collaborator of Andrew Lloyd Webber - he is the violinist on the film version of Phantom of the Opera (2004) and on most original Webber musicals. With 12 studio albums, regular TV appearances on bTV and Nova TV in Bulgaria and regular slots at the BBC Proms, he is one of the most recognisable faces of classical music in Bulgaria.
The setlist for the December concerts is built as a fusion programme - a combination of classical violin and Spanish guitar with flamenco and Latin motifs. The concept is more experimental than Vasilev's standard concerts and offers a less expected repertoire. NDK Hall 1, with a capacity of 2,800 and excellent acoustics, suits the acoustic parts.
Tickets are available through eventim.bg at 60 leva. The concerts start at 20:00 on Wednesday, December 2, and Thursday, December 3, 2026. For Macedonian fans of classical music and crossover programmes, this is one of the key dates in the neighbourhood.
