20-year-old Violet Affleck - daughter of Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner - got a new look with a single scissor move. The long hair has been replaced by a short bob - but not in the classic French version. In a boyish one, with a straight line and no volume.
Stylist Cristina Solomosi describes the move: „Pure French girl aesthetic, with more attitude and less feminine finish". The difference between a classic French bob and this boyish variant is in the edges - straight lines versus soft ones; less volume; an unfinished end versus a rounded finish. In other words - something between the 90s and a present-day Parisian student.
The point of this cut isn't the length. The point is that it opens up the face - the jawline becomes more readable, the eyes more dominant, and the resemblance to her mother Jennifer Garner becomes fully visible. That's a technical decision a good stylist calculates before the scissors touch the hair.
For the everyday Balkan context, the move is interesting also because it happens at a moment when long hair is back in style. Violet is going against the trend. Boyish bobs in Skopje, Belgrade, Zagreb - are still a risk. But when a 20-year-old Affleck daughter does it, the same 20-year-olds in the Balkans will be doing it in 6 months.
Violet has her own health story - since a post-viral illness from the pandemic, she wears a mask in public and avoids public events. This haircut is one of the rare occasions when the media has caught her in frame. A change that says more than 100 photo shoots - that's the message.
