Tomorrow part of Skopje goes without water and part without electricity. Both cuts are planned and announced in advance - which is good news in itself, because that is not always the case.
The public utility "Vodovod i kanalizacija" said that due to work on a water connection on Otokar Kershovani street near the Bit Pazar health clinic, water supply will be cut from 09:00 for users on Petre Georgiev, Otokar Kershovani and Krste Misirkov number 14 streets, as well as for the clinic itself.
EVN Macedonia says that between 09:00 and 14:00, users on street "6" in Bardovci, in the municipality of Karposh, will be without electricity.
The clinic is the part you should not skim past
One entry on the list of addresses is not an ordinary residential number: the Bit Pazar health clinic. A healthcare facility that will operate without water tomorrow, from nine in the morning - on a working day, during the hours when clinics are at their fullest.
That does not mean the connection should not be built. Infrastructure gets maintained when it has to be, and work postponed for years ends up as a breakdown. But there is a difference between a street and a clinic, and that difference calls for a plan: a water tanker at the entrance, a rescheduled slot, or at minimum information on exactly how long the cut will last.
None of that was mentioned. The announcement says when it starts, but not when it ends. For a resident that is an inconvenience. For a health facility that washes hands, instruments and rooms, it is an operational question.
Five hours without power in Bardovci will pass the way they pass every year. The Bit Pazar question is different - and only the people walking into that waiting room tomorrow will know the answer.
