Most wedding dresses are worn for one day and then go into a box. Carlota solved that differently: she chose a dress that changes three times over the course of the same evening, and by the end of the night she was dancing in something that no longer looked like what she got married in.
The wedding took place on 23 August 2025, on the island of La Toja in O Grove, Pontevedra, in Galicia. The ceremony was held in the gardens of the events palace, with more than 300 guests. The guests arrived by bus. The bride and groom came by boat.
The dress is the "Mona Princess" model by Sophie et Voila, the house founded by Saioa Goitia, made in double crepe. The neckline is a bateau, and the lower hem carries removable tulle, applied layer by layer. No train. "I had no clear idea how I wanted my dress to look, just a notion of what might suit me", Carlota says. What she did want was more specific: "I wanted one dress I could enjoy right to the end."
And that is how it went. A veil came on for the ceremony. During lunch she wore tulle gloves. Before the dancing the tulle at the bottom came off and the dress became another one. None of it required a second dress.
The details around it were chosen too, not bought in a hurry. Shoes from the Le Coeur collection at Maison Alaia. Rosette earrings with diamonds and sapphires from Del Paramo Vintage, and a diamond bracelet that had belonged to her mother. A low romantic bun, done at a salon. Understated make-up, with the emphasis on the light of the skin.
The bouquet was made up of exactly 27 stems of White Majolika roses, cut to deliberately uneven lengths. The floral decoration ran to English garden roses, several kinds of hydrangea, lilac, dahlias, lisianthus, cosmos, cobaea stems and beds of jasmine.
The evening unfolded on a schedule that left no gaps: a string trio facing the sea during the civil ceremony, a jazz band for the cocktail hour, then a live concert and dancing in the gallery by the water, and finally a retro disco at the hotel.
There is one detail that explains the whole wedding better than all the flowers: the bride organised it herself. "I handled the organisation of the wedding", she says briefly. Three hundred guests, a boat, three looks from one dress and not a single wedding planner. Here that would be either a feat or a family row, and most likely both.
