Jamaican reggae legends Inner Circle play Bulgaria for the first time, on July 28 at Maimunarnitsa in Sofia. The band known as „The Bad Boys of Reggae" comes as part of its world tour Stay Strong Jamrock, with an evening named after their biggest hit - „Sweat A La La La Long".
Inner Circle formed in Kingston back in 1968 and ranks among the names most responsible for reggae's global popularisation. After the early era with singer Jacob Miller, which ended with his death in a car crash in 1980, the band reformed in 1986 and broke through worldwide in the nineties. The song „Sweat (A La La La La Long)" reached third on the British chart and the top spot in ten countries, selling over a million copies in Europe, while „Bad Boys" became recognisable as the opening theme of the American TV series COPS.
For the album „Bad Boys" the band also won a Grammy in 1993 in the best reggae album category, confirming them as one of the most successful reggae names in history. Their concerts are known for their positive energy and for hits still played around the world today, so the Sofia appearance is a rare chance to hear live songs that marked an entire generation.
The concert takes place at Maimunarnitsa in Borisova Gradina, with tickets sold through bilet.bg at prices in the euro equivalent of around 20 to 30 euros. For reggae lovers from Macedonia, Inner Circle's first appearance in neighbouring Bulgaria is reason enough for a summer trip to Sofia.
