Magyar on Vučić, Orbán and Fico: I Know Who Godfather's the Great Friendships

Péter Magyar wastes no time. While one hand changes rhetoric toward Croatia, the other opens an investigation into the gas pipeline attack near Kanjiža. And he doesn't hesitate to point fingers - he believes the operation was orchestrated by Russian interests and by Orbán himself. A heavy accusation against the man who until yesterday was the most powerful figure in Budapest.

But the most interesting statement is about "craftsmanship." Magyar says he knows "who is the godfather of the great friendships" - referring to the Orban-Vučić-Fico trio. Three names, three "hybrid systems" as he himself calls them, tied by threads that have long been more than diplomatic. In the Balkans this is not surprising - we've long been watching how that club operates.

Magyar meanwhile seeks good relations with Serbia - not because of Vučić, but because of ethnic Hungarians in Vojvodina. He urges Serbian citizens who identify with "hybrid systems" to unite, and pledges support for the diaspora. A smart move - you strike at the leader, but not at the people.

Will he succeed? Orbán is no easy opponent, and Vučić and Fico know how to play the long game. But the mere fact that someone in Budapest openly gathered around "craftsmanship" is something new. In the Balkans we're used to these things being whispered in cafes, not said on camera.
