Mickoski From Vienna Calls Emigrants to Come Back: Promises the Diaspora Has Been Hearing for Decades

Prime Minister Mickoski from Vienna told Macedonians in Austria: come back, invest, move the country forward. "We are working dedicatedly to create a stable and predictable business climate" - he said before the diaspora, with the government delegation behind him and Deputy PM Nikoloski describing the diaspora as "a key partner for investments and economic growth."

The message isn't new. Every government since independence has called on emigrants to return. The difference lies in what they promised and what they delivered. The diaspora in Austria - one of the largest Macedonian communities in Europe - has been hearing such words for a long time. Those who came back know how much "stable business climate" means in practice.

Mickoski emphasized that meetings with the diaspora are important for building trust and community. "You are added value to our society" - he said, convinced that only together can they move the country forward.

The visit also focused on deepening bilateral cooperation with Austria, especially in the context of the European regional agenda. Whether concrete incentives for those who actually want to invest will follow the words - the diaspora will judge with their feet, not their applause.
