The Ohrid-Vienna Route Has Launched: The Lakeside City Is Back on Europe's Air Map

Ohrid has gained another direct link to the heart of Europe. As of today, 21 June, the regular Ohrid - Vienna air route has launched, with the first flight landing at "Saint Apostle Paul" airport. The route was introduced by Austrian Airlines, connecting the lakeside city with another European capital.

For a region that lives on tourism, every new air route is more than a flight schedule - it's a direct channel for guests and money. The link is expected to increase passenger numbers during the tourist season and contribute to local economic development. Vienna is no random choice: it's a transit hub through which you reach dozens of other destinations.

Still, it's worth recalling that Ohrid's airport has a history of routes that arrive with fanfare and leave quietly. Low-cost carriers already closed their base here once. Whether Austrian Airlines stays longer depends on how many passengers fill the seats once the summer euphoria passes.

For now, the news is good: Ohrid is back on Europe's air map. The answer on the route's sustainability won't come from the ceremonies at the first flight, but from the bookings in November. Until then - welcome, Vienna.
