The company Grizzly Foods is recalling its 240-millilitre organic chicken bone broth after a fragment of glass was found in one jar from a single batch. The manufacturer cannot rule out that the same problem exists in other jars from that batch, so the recall is precautionary.

Which jars are affected

The recall applies only to products carrying exactly these markings:

Batch number: BG2617302
Best before: 1 June 2028

The product was sold through the manufacturer's online shop, and this company's broths are also available in certain branches of the German chain Denns BioMarkt. Customers who have that batch should set it aside immediately and neither use nor taste it.

What if you have already bought it

The manufacturer advises returning the product to the shop where it was purchased. No receipt is needed, and customers get the full amount back.

Germany's Federal Office of Consumer Protection and Food Safety warns that fragments of glass in food can cause serious injuries to the mouth and throat, as well as internal injuries. That is not scare wording - it is the reason an entire batch leaves the shelves because of one jar.

What is worth noting is the mechanism itself. One fragment of glass in one product - and the system pulls everything, publishes the batch number, gives the date and refunds without a receipt. How often do we get a batch number here, rather than a statement that "there is no danger to citizens"?
