City of the Sun play Belgrade's SPRAT club on 16 September from 8 pm, as part of the European tour "The European Return Tour 2026". The New York trio plays purely instrumental music - no vocals, no lyrics, no singer.

The band formed in 2011 and consists of guitarists John Pita and Avi Snow and percussionist Zach Para. Their sound is built on indie rock, American folk, flamenco and blues, and critics usually park them somewhere between Rodrigo y Gabriela and Explosions in the Sky. That tells you which way the evening goes - acoustic guitars instead of walls of sound, but with rock dynamics.

Their route to the stage was literal - they built the sound busking on New York's streets. The first wider breakthrough came after a TED conference appearance in 2013. Their debut full-length album "to the sun and all the cities in between" came out in March 2016 and reached number 12 on the Billboard jazz chart.

The tour title - "return" - says this is not their first European lap but another pass through cities they have already played. Tickets are around 1,158 denars through tickets.rs, and doors are at 8 pm at SPRAT.
