Concrete paving slabs and stones piled up for years are being cleared from the shore of Lake Dojran

The Municipality of Dojran has started cleaning the shoreline along the promenade in Star Dojran. Concrete paving slabs, stones and other material that, according to the municipality, built up over the years are being removed from the shore.

The goal, the municipal authorities say, is to clear the shore of waste, tidy it up and cover it with extra sand, so there are "better, cleaner and safer conditions" for visitors. The work is being done with the new public-space maintenance machinery the municipality recently received. The same machinery was used to level the pitch where the "Dojransko Ezero" football team plays.

It's good that the shore is being cleaned. But concrete paving slabs don't grow in the sand - someone brought them there and left them, and for years nobody removed them. How many years had to pass before construction rubble on the shore of one of the country's three big natural lakes became a job for the municipality?
