Zagreb band Majales play Garden Taproom on September 26, the second incarnation of their Tour de Pop. The concert starts at 8pm and marks the new phase the band has named Boutique Pop.

Majales have existed since 1993, when Petar Beluhan and Vlado Mirčeta founded them. From the very start the band positioned itself as an author-driven, experimental outfit, with rich arrangements and lyrics that rarely take the shortest route. Their debut album "Svima želim raj za sve" came out in 1999 and immediately showed their taste for fusing pop, jazz and funk. After a long silence they returned in 2012 with "2", and in 2017 "Simbol za sunce" pushed them toward denser pop and a psychedelic sound.

The fifth studio album "Boutique Pop" marked their return to the stage after three years without concerts, and the Tour de Pop is the format that closes that chapter. Thirty-three years of existence with five studio albums is not the discography of a band chasing numbers - it is the record of a band that releases when it has something to say. That is a rarity in a region where an album a year gets treated as proof of relevance.

Garden Taproom is a Zagreb venue with a brewery and a concert stage, smaller than the standard club halls. For material that still holds up live, that is a better environment than a big auditorium. Tickets through entrio.hr run around 20 euros, or roughly 1,232 denars.
