British DJ Patrick Topping will close out the summer in Zagreb outdoors, in the courtyard of the Museum of Contemporary Art. The event is put together by Panic Room Croatia and runs from 5pm to midnight on 12 September, which means it is a full-day programme rather than a classic club night that starts once everyone is already tired.

Topping was born in Newcastle and his story starts in a working men's club in his hometown back in 2009. The breakthrough came in 2013 with a release on Jamie Jones's Hottrax, followed by a residency at Ibiza's Paradise that ran until 2019. His 2014 single "Forget" won him a DJ Award for track of the season on Ibiza, and in 2018 he was named best tech-house DJ. Four years later Britain's DJ Mag voted him best British DJ. In 2019 he founded the Trick label, which today counts more than 125 releases and has grown into a festival brand of its own with events in Tenerife, Newcastle and Budapest.

What separates Topping from the row of DJs rotating through the same festivals is that he plays tech-house with an openly fun approach, without needing every set to sound like a manual on seriousness. That is why his name keeps turning up at Tomorrowland, Glastonbury, Coachella, EDC Las Vegas and Awakenings, and not only at specialist techno nights.

The location is not an accident. The courtyard of Zagreb's Museum of Contemporary Art is one of the few city venues where the open-air programme does not get pushed out of town, which for a visitor from Skopje means the event is walkable from the centre. Tickets through entrio.hr go up to 50 euros, roughly 3,080 denars for the top tier, while the lower tiers are considerably cheaper for anyone who decides early.
