The band Rock ko fol return to Zagreb's Bugalu club on 3 October with a programme that joins rock standards and sevdalinkas. The concert starts at 9 pm and it is one of the rare nights where the same audience hears both repertoires without having to choose.

The band is made up of long-time friends Dinko Salihbašić, Almir Crnović and Elvis Katić. They play well-known rock standards, traditional songs and their own material, and the mix of rock and roll energy, sevdah and emotion is what made them recognisable. This is not two genres mechanically stacked side by side: the sevdalinka and the rock ballad share the same architecture of pain, only with different instruments, and the band works exactly on that seam.

A repertoire like this carries particular weight for a Balkan ear. Sevdah is music that outlived every state border drawn across the region, and once a rock band plays it, the question left standing is why anyone ever thought these were two separate things.

The same line-up plays Split's Porat Klub on 2 October, the day before the Zagreb show. Tickets for Bugalu through entrio.hr cost 20 euros in advance, roughly 1,232 denars, and 25 euros on the day of the concert, about 1,540 denars.
