Silvi Bend marks thirty-five years together with an anniversary concert at the Macedonian Opera and Ballet on October 13. The duo of Silvana Mucic and Vlatko Plevnes, who walked into Macedonian living rooms at the start of the nineties, this time bring the material to a big stage with a full backing band.

The band's story starts at Makfest. The song "Angeli me nosat", music by Dragan Vucic and lyrics by Djoko Georgiev, took third place with the audience and the award for best interpretation, and the following year was named the most-played song between two festivals. It has been their signature ever since, the chorus that gets them recognised even by people who could not name a single member of the group. Thirty-five years on, it is one of the few Macedonian songs to have survived a full turnover of generations, formats and tastes.

The programme for October 13 lists "Angeli me nosat", "Me poluduvas" and "1762 leto", plus a slice of the repertoire the band has kept alive for longer: songs from "Mitke", romances and arrangements from "Kostana". That is a combination you rarely hear in one evening, because it demands both a pop and a theatre register. The MOB hall, with its acoustics, suits that material better than any arena in the city.
