As part of OkTUBAfest, the Small Hall of the Macedonian Philharmonic welcomes the German Duo Compagni on October 13 at 20:00. Siegfried Jung plays tuba and Susanne Endres piano, with a programme of works by Canev, Dimitrescu, Piazzolla and others.
Jung is principal tuba of the orchestra of the National Theatre in Mannheim. The duo formed while recording a joint album and has since performed internationally, with new compositions and arrangements of works from all over the world. With harp as a third instrument, Jung also recorded the album "Porteño", with works by Gardel and Villoldo.
The tuba usually sits in the back row of the orchestra and rarely gets the lead role. This night flips that around: the tuba leads and the piano answers. The organisers promise the duo will smash the stereotypes about an instrument you usually only feel underneath all the others.
Entry costs 200 denars, with tickets through mktickets.mk. The name OkTUBAfest is a pun with the tuba in the middle.
