The Macedonian Philharmonic performs the programme "Zarathustra" on November 26 at 20:00. Conrad van Alphen from the Netherlands conducts, and the soloist is trumpeter Matilda Lloyd from the UK.

Lloyd plays Mieczysław Weinberg's Trumpet Concerto in B-flat major, Op. 94, a work she has recorded with the London Symphony Orchestra for the Chandos label. In 2014 she won the brass category of BBC Young Musician, in 2016 she made her BBC Proms debut, and in 2017 she won the Éric Aubier International Trumpet Competition in Rouen. Since September 2025 she has been a professor of trumpet at Trinity Laban Conservatoire in London.

The second half is Richard Strauss's tone poem "Also sprach Zarathustra", inspired by Nietzsche, whose opening became one of the most famous musical moments of the 20th century after Stanley Kubrick used it in "2001: A Space Odyssey". Van Alphen was born in Pretoria in 1963 and is the founder and chief conductor of Sinfonia Rotterdam.
