Israel's military chief has issued a warning that reverberated across Europe: Iran's demonstrated missile capability of 4,000 kilometers means that Berlin and Paris are now within potential striking range of Iranian weapons.
The warning from the IDF chief of staff came as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu described the previous night as one of the most difficult Israel has experienced, following Iranian missile strikes that landed near the Dimona nuclear facility and the city of Arad. The Shimon Peres nuclear facility, located just 13 kilometers from the impact zone, was a particular source of concern.
Israel's response targeted Iran's Natanz nuclear enrichment facility, marking a dramatic escalation in the tit-for-tat exchange between the two nations. The International Atomic Energy Agency confirmed that no radiation had been detected at any affected sites, though the proximity of strikes to nuclear installations on both sides has raised alarm about the potential for a catastrophic accident.
The revelation about Iran's 4,000-kilometer missile range has shifted the security calculation for European capitals. Military planners in Germany and France are reassessing their vulnerability, while NATO officials have called for an urgent review of the alliance's missile defense posture. The conflict between Israel and Iran is no longer a purely Middle Eastern affair — it now carries direct implications for European security.
