Part of Karpoš Without Water for 20 Hours: Repairs on Nikola Parapunov Street

Part of Skopje's Karpoš will be left without water for almost a whole day. The public water utility has announced work on the water network starting on 26 June at 6 p.m. and lasting until the repair is finished.

The reason is the repair of two valves with profiles of F400 and F500 millimetres on „Nikola Parapunov" street. Because of it, users on „Nikola Parapunov" street, part of „Razlovečko Vostanie" and part of „Vič" street will be left without water. The water supply is expected to return to normal the following day around noon.

The utility adds a familiar caveat: the work depends on the technical conditions on the ground being met, and if they aren't, the intervention will be postponed to a later period. Translation for those counting the hours without water in the summer heat - it could run longer than announced.

Twenty hours without water in June is no small thing for households already battling the heat. The question that repeats with every such intervention is the same: why do repairs of worn-out valves regularly catch us in summer, precisely when water use is at its highest?
