The Skopje water and sewage utility has published the results of its weekly laboratory testing: tap water in Skopje is safe to drink. The testing covered the period April 27-30, 2026, across 39 measuring points in the city, with a total of 147 physico-chemical and 147 microbiological samples.

All samples comply with the regulations on the safety and quality of drinking water. The sanitary control system is functioning, the results are clean - and Skopje can keep turning on the taps without worry.

Routine confirmation, yes - but it matters. Regular publication of these results is the minimum transparency expected from any utility. The fact that the system exists and that it works is not something to take for granted.
