Mass Shooting in Kyiv: Six Killed in a Supermarket, Gunman Born in Moscow

An armed man opened fire on a street in Kyiv, killing six people and injuring at least 14, including a child. The shooting took place in a supermarket in the Holosiivskyi district. The attacker was eliminated by security forces.

Ukraine's Security Service classified the incident as a "terrorist attack." The gunman was born in Moscow - a detail that inevitably raises questions about motive in a country at war with Russia.

Some police officers who were on the scene during the attack have been suspended over criticism of their response. In a country where civilians live daily under the threat of missile strikes, a mass shooting with firearms on a street adds a new layer of horror - this time not from the sky, but from the sidewalk.
