Europe Stands Behind the Pope: Meloni, Sanchez and Poland Condemn Trump

Europe rallied behind Pope Leo XIV after Trump called him "weak" and "terrible for foreign policy." Meloni, Sanchez, the Polish President's advisor — even those who normally stay quiet when Trump attacks — reacted this time.

Italian PM Meloni — known as close to Trump — called the attacks "inappropriate." Spain's Sanchez backed the Pope directly. The advisor to the Polish president said "Trump crossed a line and insulted all Catholics." Italy's opposition went further and directly condemned the American president.

Pope Leo XIV had earlier criticized US policy toward Iran and called for "serious reflection" on how migrants are treated. Trump responded with a full broadside — called him weak, suggested few would have become Pope without him, and even reminded him his brother was a "better option."

When you start sorting the papal family by political loyalty and encroach on territory that 1.4 billion Catholics call sacred — Europe notices. Trump? Apparently not.
