The voice that brought sevdah back to younger generations is coming to Belgrade. Bozo Vreco, one of the most recognisable names of the new sevdah scene, performs on November 28 at mts dvorana. Those who know his performance also know this is no ordinary concert - Vreco on stage is as much an apparition as a voice.

Born in 1983 in Foca, Vreco first earned a master's in archaeology and worked as a teacher before sevdalinka took him over entirely. He began his professional career in 2013 with the band Halka, and then with the solo album Moj sevdah, on which he sang seventeen sevdalinke almost entirely a cappella. Soon sold-out concerts and international festivals carried him far beyond the borders of the Balkans.

What sets him apart is not just the interpretation, but his relationship to a genre passed down for centuries by word of mouth as an expression of longing, sorrow and unfulfilled love. Vreco also sings the women's sevdalinke, wears long hair, kaftans and a beard at the same time, and uses his stage as a space for questions about gender and freedom in the Balkans. That makes him one of the boldest and most original performers in the region.

The concert at mts dvorana starts at 8 p.m., and tickets are sold via tickets.rs. For an evening where tradition meets complete freedom of expression, there is hardly a more interesting name this autumn.
