Toody Cole and Jenny Don't play the Hard Place club in Zagreb on November 28, 2026, starting at 8 pm. For an audience that follows the American garage and punk scene, this is a rare chance to see one of the central figures of the Portland underground.

Toody Cole, born Kathleen Conner on December 30, 1948, is an American musician known above all as bassist, singer and co-founder of the Portland garage rock band Dead Moon, together with her husband Fred Cole. Dead Moon was formed in 1987 in Portland, Oregon, with singer and guitarist Fred Cole, singer and bassist Toody Cole and drummer Andrew Loomis. The band first broke up in 2006, reunited in 2014 and finally ceased to exist in 2017, after the deaths of Loomis and Fred Cole.

The influence of Fred and Toody Cole on the Portland scene goes beyond their records. The two were what the local scene describes as the mother and father of Portland punk, and at the same time its leading names. Through their record shops and the independent label Tombstone Records they laid the ground for the nineties, when Portland punk grew into something far bigger.

In Zagreb, Cole performs with Jenny Don't, whose band Jenny Don't and the Spurs comes out of the same Portland milieu, and members Kelly Halliburton and Christopher Marsh have played with Cole before. Tickets are 30 euros, roughly 1,848 denars, plus a booking fee, through entrio.hr.
